2 Days and 1 Night in Paradise
There is a bunch of things to do in Australia, but one of the best and something you have to do is go to the Great Barrier Reef. Instead of doing a day trip on a crowded boat, we took a 2 day trip on a boat called the Rum Runner. It was a sail boat that was about 60 feet long, with two 18 year old boys and a captain and a cook. When we got on the boat they welcomed us and after a couple minutes we were off to the Great Barrier Reef. After 3 hours we were there, the water was crystal clear. After the intro to the gear they gave you choices on what to do, the first choice is to snorkel on top of the water with goggles and a tube to breathe through, or they offered an intro dive. First I did the snorkel, but after the intro dive on the second I decided to dive, and it was probably the coolest thing I have ever done. Because what you had to do is you first put a weight belt on and then you put the tank on and a mask and then just jump on in. I was probably 50 feet underneath the water, when I was underneath the water, fish would come inches from me, and it was really cool. But probably the coolest thing that happened was when I was probably 5 feet away from a white tip shark. I wasn’t scared at all, because the shark was swimming away from fish that were coming towards him. I also saw giant clams probably the size of me, I also saw a bunch of different kinds of fish, I even saw Nemo and I saw some spotted devil rays. I got to do a total of four dives on the Great Barrier Reef, I am hoping in some other places we go that I can dive some more. – Tim
